Wallow Fire

WSRI acting as the major subcontractor procured over 12,397 tons of certified weed free straw for the project. Sixty Nine loads of material per day was delivered for the project. Approximately 12,397 acres of burned land received aerial drops of straw mulch. WSRI Project Management personnel secured 9 staging areas (4 on private ground and 5 on Forest Service ground) for staging/mixing straw and for helicopter landing/fueling zones and heavy rains on access roads created muddy road conditions and hazards for several days. Utilizing 2 skid steers, 2 Telehandlers, 5 tractors, 1 hydromulcher, 4 helicopters, and 24 man ground crew, Mountain West Helicopters and Western States Reclamation, Inc. completed the project 25 days ahead of the U.S. Forest Service contract completion date.
