![]() Wetlands/Earthwork
Description: WSRI teamed with Smith Environmental to complete design/build reclamation services on two abandoned mines. Scope of work included the capping of mine waste tailings and rerouting water around contaminated areas. WSRI had to redirect water flows from old mine shafts into lined flow channels, line a creek bottom, rebuild a stream crossing, and build fences, then reseed and plant mine sites.
Description: WSRI built an eight acre wetland area which included striping 10,000 CY of topsoil, 75,000 CY of subsoil, followed by topsoil replacement and regarding. The site included drill seeding 5 acres of lowland/upland area and hand seeding 3 acres of wetland area. Planting consisted of 212 five gallon deciduous shrubs, 1,158 one gallon deciduous shrubs, 8,877 wetland tubelings and 13,488 willow cuttings. Twelve peizometers were placed on site to monitor groundwater levels and various erosion control methods were used to control sediment.
Description: WSRI contracted to complete wetland mitigation along Todd Creek Golf Course. Work included soil prep, seeding and mulching of 17 acres of upland areas and 12.5 acres of wetland areas. 16,720 one gallon deciduous shrubs were planted throughout the site. Combinations of hand watering from a water truck and Dri-Water cross link polymer tubes were utilized to sustain plant material in a healthy condition.
Description: Completed approximately 6 acres of wetlands and upland construction work. The wetlands scope of work included 5,600 willow stakes, 734 1-gallon shrubs, 444 5-gallon shrubs, 31,000 square yards of erosion control blanket, 30 salvaged cottonwood branches, and 5-acres of wetland seeding. WSRI installed over 60,400 lineal feet of drip pipe to maintain the wetlands plantings during the establishment period. WSRI also installed a temporary irrigation tap utilizing a fire hydrant and backflow preventor, and installed battery powered irrigation controllers.
Description: This project consisted of channel shaping, placement of approximately 1,700 cubic yards of topsoil, rip-rap placement, installation of turf reinforcement mat, installation of erosion control blanket, willow stakes, wetland and upland seeding, 10,500 wetlands plugs, and cottonwood trees.
